Year 5-Queensway
|
Welcome Queensway! My name is Miss Burmby. I will be your year 5 class teacher. Our LSA will be Mrs. Squires, who will join us during the morning sessions.
3 interesting facts about me:
When I was in primary school, my dream was to become a teacher (look where I am now – dreams do come true if you work hard and you do not give up)
I am passionate about reading, one of my favorite book series is Harry Potter by J.K Rowling.
I love traveling and have been to some amazing places – America was amazing!
I am so excited to be you class teacher! I can’t wait to get to know every single one of you, your passion/interests and how you learn. I am certain that we will all grow together this year and be a great team.
Things to remember:
PE kits every week (take home on Friday)
Water bottles
Reading diaries – make sure you are quizzing after you finish a book.
Homework will be set on a Friday and is due the next Friday. There will be an English and Maths activity to complete.

English
In English, year 5 will be writing both fiction and non-fiction texts for Autumn 1. Children will have the opportunity to plan their writing by identifying the audience and purpose. Additionally, they will recognise key details from more than one paragraph by referring to the text to support predictions and opinions. Year 5 will develop their use of PEEL (point, evidence, explain and link).
