Cut Throat Lane
How do you feel when you walk along Cut Throat Lane? Especially in the dark. Do you shudder and peer back over your shoulder? Perhaps you’d feel better if you knew that the name comes from “Cut Athwart Lane”, meaning “Cut Across”, a short cut across a field. There are several roads still called “Cut Athwart Lane” in Essex, including one at Beeleigh and another at Woodham Walter.

Information for parents
PE - Please ensure that the correct PE kits are brought into school every Monday so that your child can participate in the sessions. PE kits will be sent home on a half termly basis so that they can be washed and then returned to school. Earrings must be removed on PE days. Staff are not permitted to remove these for the children.
Water bottles- Children should bring in a water bottle every day.
Reading books - Every week the children will bring home a colour banded book that is matched to their STAR reading level as well as a reading for pleasure book from the library. Please try to read with your child every day. When you do read with them, kindly make a note of the date and title in their reading records. Children are also able to record this themselves but have this signed off by you, if this is easier. Reading records and books must be brought to school every day.
Homework - On a Friday, the children will receive an English and Maths piece of work to complete at home. Homework should be returned to school for the following Thursday.
If you ever need to chat to me, I am always outside at the end of the day and we can either meet then, or arrange a suitable time. Our class email address is cutthroatlane@Inspiresmat.co.uk.
A bit about me!
Class teacher: Mrs. L Bearman
Hello, I'm Mrs. Bearman and I am the class teacher in Cut Throat Lane. I have worked in our Inspires MAT since 2015 and joined Templars Academy in 2020. I am so looking forward to working with Year 6 this academic year!
Three facts about me...
1. I have a young daughter called Betsy.
2. I love doing and teaching art in any form- drawing, painting, sculpting and much more!
3. I am ambidextrous which means I am able to use both hands to write and do other tasks (which comes in really handy!)
Our class LSA is Miss Grace who is excited to work with Year 6 this year.
