Chess Lane
Welcome to...
Hello all. My name is Mrs Hughes. It has been great to join the Templars Academy team and it's been wonderful meeting all the amazing children in Chess Lane. I have been teaching since 2014 and I have mainly taught year 1 and year 2. I think it’s very important to read and share stories and I love teaching phonics and history as well as anything creative. My aim is to make the children’s learning as engaging and fun as possible whilst still ensuring that children make fantastic progress. I love hearing about the children’s achievements and why families are proud of them which is why I send ‘proud clouds’ home so that we can all share and celebrate them together. We also celebrate in class by choosing a 'star of the day' as well as 'star of the week' in celebration assembly.
Our LSA will still be Mrs Pringle, who I am sure that you all know as she has been at Templars Academy for many years and she is honestly one of the best LSA's I've had the pleasure to work with.
If you would like to contact me, you can do this through…

Uniform
Please make sure that all uniform is clearly labelled with permenent marker or waterproof labels. This should include coats, hats and gloves when we have colder weather. This is the best way to make sure the children get their items back if they misplace them.
PE
PE is on Thursdays, so please make sure that you provide your child with a named PE kit and PE bag. This should include shorts, top, trousers, jacket, socks and appropriate footwear. Please also ensure that, if your child wears earrings, that they are removed for our PE sessions as we are not allowed to remove them ourselves.
Homework
Homework will be given to the children every Friday. As part of the homework, children should be reading at least 3 times a week. If they complete this, they will receive a golden ticket and, if they are chosen in celebration assembly, they will receive a prize. The homework activity will always be based on something we've learnt during the week. Please help your child complete the activity and bring it back to school to be marked.
I look to an excellent year with you
