Enabling our pupils to develop a love of music, develop their talent as musicians and to increase
their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.
At Templars Academy, our Music curriculum aims to inspire creativity and develop children's skills in listening, composing, and performing music. We provide a broad and balanced musical education that nurtures a lifelong appreciation and understanding of music from a variety of styles, cultures, and historical periods.
Our curriculum:
- Develops children's knowledge of musical elements such as pitch, rhythm, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, and structure.
- Encourages active listening and critical appraisal of a wide range of music, helping children to identify instruments, styles, and musical features.
- Provides opportunities for children to compose and improvise music, fostering creativity and personal expression.
- Builds confidence and skill in performing music individually and collaboratively, using voice, instruments, and technology.
- Introduces children to music from different cultures and traditions, promoting cultural awareness and respect.
- Sequences learning to ensure progressive development of musical skills and understanding across key stages.
- Integrates opportunities for cross-curricular links and enrichment activities such as concerts, workshops, and visits.
We are committed to delivering a high-quality Music education that supports children's personal development, creativity, and enjoyment of music.
