Enabling our pupils to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.
At Templars Academy, our Art and Design curriculum nurtures creativity, imagination, and critical thinking by engaging children in a wide range of artistic experiences. We aim to develop their skills, knowledge, and understanding of art, enabling them to express themselves confidently and appreciate the work of artists and designers from different times and cultures.
Our curriculum:
- Encourages children to explore and experiment with a variety of media, materials, and techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printing, textiles, and digital art.
- Develops children's ability to use formal elements of art such as line, shape, colour, texture, tone, pattern, and form to create meaningful and imaginative work.
- Builds knowledge of significant artists, craft makers, and designers, helping children to understand the historical and cultural contexts of art.
- Promotes critical thinking by encouraging children to evaluate their own work and that of others, using appropriate artistic vocabulary.
- Provides a progressive sequence of skills development, ensuring children build on prior learning and deepen their artistic capabilities over time.
- Fosters creativity and personal expression, allowing children to communicate ideas, feelings, and experiences through their artwork.
- Integrates opportunities for collaborative projects and cross-curricular links to enrich children's learning experiences.
We are committed to delivering a high-quality Art and Design education that inspires a lifelong appreciation of the arts and supports the development of confident, creative individuals.
