Welcome to year 6 - your final year at Templars Academy!!
Having met you all on your ‘meet the teacher day’ we are super excited to have you and are confident you will make excellent role models as the eldest children in our school.
This half term, our theme is ‘The Romans’ and we have lots of exciting activities planned for you such as shield-making and mosaics.
10 fun facts about the Romans:
In Maths this half term we will be focusing on place value (which will include rounding, negative numbers and Roman numerals) addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will also be learning how to find factors, multiples, square numbers and prime numbers as well as understanding the importance of the order of operations through BODMAS.
In English, we will be focusing on letter writing, diary entries and narrative. The writing will largely be linked to our Roman theme.
Who's who in year 6?
I'm Mrs Hounslow and my favourite subject is Maths. In my spare time I enjoy going on long walks with my dog and attending yoga 🧘♂️.
Hello there! I'm Miss Harvey and I'm excited to be teaching Year 6 again at Templars! I have a real passion for writing, reading and anything media-related, so if you're after any recommendations, I'm always happy to help. In my spare time I love watching new films, listening to music, spending quality time with my family and exploring new places. :)
Hi, I'm Mrs Farbrother and I'm the Learning Support Assistant in Holborn Class.
I'm often spotted walking my very naughty dog Sandy around Witham.
My hobbies are mountain climbing and taking long country walks. I'm looking forward to another successful year in Year 6!
Year 6 will take part in the half termly homework project. They will also be given maths and grammar homework weekly to consolidate class learning and prepare them for their SATS.
PE will usually take place for the whole year group on a Thursday. Hounslow East will also have PE in Wednesday and Holborn on Monday. However, please ensure PE kits are in school everyday - there will be occasions when the day may have to be changed based around other events happening in the school.
