Year 1-Oxford Circus
Welcome to Our Class Page Year 1 - Oxford Circus!
Meet your Teacher
Hello everyone! My name is Miss Anderson and I am the Year 1 Class Teacher at Templars Academy. I love teaching in Oxford Circus and seeing all of the fantastic learning that happens in class. Here are a few interesting facts about me, so that you can get to know me a little bit better.
1 - I love Disney films and enjoy watching these in my spare time. Some of my favourite films include Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, Moana and Aladdin!
2 - I studied Performing Arts at University and love to perform! Some shows I have been in include Cinderella and Robin Hood.
3 - Flowers are one of my favourite things. I like things that have floral patterns on and especially love buying flowers!
Meet your Learning Support Assistant
Miss Veale is our HLSA in Oxford Circus. We are so lucky to have Miss Veale helping us in our class and supporting our learning!
All About Oxford Circus
Oxford Circus is an intersection (a place where roads merge together!) in our busy capital city of London. You will find lots of people walking around this place.
Oxford Circus has an underground tube station, where people can travel very quickly to get into Oxford Circus.
Oxford Circus connects Oxford Street and Regent Street. These roads are very popular in London, and are known especially for their shops!
Fun Fact - Oxford Circus is not the kind of circus with performers showing lots of tricks, it is called a circus because it is in the shape of a circle!
School Notices - Summer 1
Here are a few notices regarding our class routine for this half term.
Water Bottles - Children should continue to use their school water bottles already provided. If you require a new water bottle for your child, please contact the office to purchase a new one. These should be washed and brought back into school everyday.
PE Kits - Oxford Circus will have their PE sessions on Thursday and Friday. The children will bring these home each Friday, so that they can be washed and returned the following week. Please endeavour to bring these in to school by Wednesday, so that we can check that your child is ready to participate in their PE sessions on Thursday and Friday.
Home Reading Books - Children are able to change their home reading books by informing an adult in class, or writing their name on the board. We would like to gently remind adults that although we are happy for the children to change their books when needed, we like to encourage reading fluency by allowing children to spend some time rereading their book.
Reading Records - Reading records will continue to be checked throughout the week to monitor your child's reading engagement at home, as well as progress with their home reading book. These will be sent home each day. We would like to encourage adults to write a short comment in these each time your child does some reading at home, as this allows us to see how your child is engaging in their home reading books. This also allows your child to participate in our class reading rewards, whereby your child will receive a sticker each week they read at home and a raffle ticket if they have read 3 times at home in a week! Certificates are also available once children have read 25, 50, 75 and 100 times at home.
