Welcome to Year Two
Welcome to South Kensington's Class Page
My name is Mr Archer, I am the class teacher for South Kensington. I have taught Year 4 upwards and am loving teach Year 2 this year. I enjoy doing parkruns and am trying my best to do as many as possible around the country. I am incredibly lucky to have Miss Humphries and Miss Veale working with me. I will update this page regularly to keep you up-to-date with forth coming information and provide links to how you will be able to access work during the closure of the schools.
Our main point of communication and access to learning will be provided through Purple Mash.
Children's login details were sent home via a letter and are also printed inside the front cover of the children's Home School Diaries. Purple Mash will be updated daily with learning tasks and activities, children will be sent an alert to notify them of new work. You will find a blog titled 'South Kensington's Learning Blog' where I will explain learning activities and post links for videos and other fun/creative ideas. I have also created another 'Blog Page' which children and parents can access to keep in touch, talk about their learning at home etc and communicate with myself.
Children were also issued with a MyMaths Login and a letter was sent home to parents. The login is also situated in the school pack that was give to children. If you do not have this, please collect it from the school office if you are safe to do so. MyMaths activities will be updated daily and I will notify you of this when they become available through our Learning Blog via Purple Mash.
Where possible, children should try to complete at least 1 piece of English, 1 piece of Maths and 1 piece of work from another subject such as Science, Geography or RE, along with reading daily at home and practising spellings.
If you are unable to access the learning online, we have created some activity sheets for you with various ideas on that can be completed without the use of the internet.
These sheets have gone home with your children or are collectible from the office if your child was absent when they were given out. Please only collect if you are safe to do so.
I have covered the following areas: Writing, Reading and Spelling
Please use the spelling document to practise words. There are lots of different ways that you can practise your spellings that are outlined above, and the Year 1 and 2 spellings along with High Frequency words are all on the link below. These are also in the packs that went home with children or are collectible from the office.
Please find below some links suitable for you to use at home. GoNoodle are fun exercise breaks which you can sign up to for free and also on YouTube you will find lots of fantastic Yoga workouts hosted by Cosmic Kids which all the children has seen and used in class.
Please find below a list of other websites that can be used for fun things to have a go at and learning ideas.
