Welcome to Swift Class Page
Welcome to our Reception Class page, where we love to learn through play!
On this web page we will be putting lots of information about all the exciting things we will be doing in our class throughout the year.
Reception is a very important and exciting time for children and parents. We offer the children lots of opportunities to learn and explore through play within our continually changing provision areas (indoors and outdoors). The children will learn through a mixture of adult led and child initiated learning, both of which are as equally important in a child's development.
We will make the most of the summer term by exploring plants and flowers in and outside of the classroom. From learning about different sections of a plant to getting mucky and growing flowers. We will have living caterpillar to learn about the life cycle of the butterfly and all about minibeast. In circle time we will talk about minibeast, look at similarities, differences know some facts about them and their habitat and sort them up into groups according to their characteristics. In Maths we will be learning about doubling, halving, money, we will be planting runner beans and sunflowers measure them and find out which is the tallest and shortest. We will use different materials to build and create a bug hotel in our outside area.
For this half term PE sessions will be twice weekly on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make sure that your child’s PE kit is in on these days and please check that their plimsoles still fit each time the kit comes home for washing at half term. Earrings will need to be removed on PE days; if your child has earrings in that they cannot remove themselves, they will not be able to join in.
Don't forget to check tapestry for updates on your children's learning.
You will find lots of pictures and videos.
We love to read your comments and share observations of children's learning at home.
