I hope that you have all enjoyed your summer and that you are ready to work hard and have some fun!.
I am extremely excited to have the class for another year and see you all fulfil your amazing potential in year 4!
This half term we will be focussing on The Knights Templar (our school namesake) in History and we will be applying the skills we have learnt during our creative links sessions. Through English we will be studying David Walliams' book - Grandpa's Great Escape.
Lots to look forward to and an amazing year ahead!
PE this half term will be on a Wednesday morning doing Cricket and a Thursday Afternoon doing Netball. Remember to ensure that you have a full PE kit in school for both indoor and outdoor use as we may have other opportunities for sport sessions keep your kit in school all week.
Year 4 Homework:
Each task should take 2 weeks to complete and you may complete the tasks in any order. The deadline for completion is the last week of autumn half term.
Task One – The Knights Templar
You must create a presentation about the Knights Templar and their holy crusade. This may be a PowerPoint presentation, a video, a poster or a collection of different formats. It must include facts and information on key events.
Task Two – Design your own crest
You must design a crest for a Knight that represents the Knight’s family. This may be for the shield or tunic or flag of the Knight. You must be able to explain why you have chosen those designs.
Task Three – Templars Art and Tapestry
You must research and investigate Templars art and tapestry. You must focus on why the art was created, what it is and what it represented.
You must then attempt to recreate sections of your own art piece or tapestry to tell a story. This may be on paper using the creative links medium of watercolour or if you are feeling really daring why not try a painted tapestry yourself?
Each submission will be shown to the class and will be assessed at the end of the half term.
This will be alongside the usual spelling and reading practise.
We will also being giving log in for maths and multiplication practise to be attempted weekly.
Best of Luck
